Pantothenic acid (as calcium pantothenate), or vitamin B5, is utilized in the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates, energy production, as well as the manufacture of adrenal hormones and red blood cells. Pantothenic Acid is also referred to as vitamin B5. In our bodies, pantothenic acid is converted to coenzyme A, necessary for the synthesis of cholesterol, bile and steroids. Coenzyme A in the body can detoxify harmful substances found in herbicides, insecticides, and drugs.
